We’re Ready for Boston Design Week 2018!

March 8, 2018

Boston Design week is just around the corner! We’re honored to once again be a sponsor and excited about the two special events we are involved in this year.

CUMAR is hosting the Northshore kickoff event for Boston Design Week at our Everett showroom on Wednesday, April 4th at 5:30pm. Entitled, “Through Rain, and Sleet, and Snow and Sun – Designing and Building for the New England Climate,” this dynamic presentation with some of the home industry’s leading experts in home and landscape design and construction will be moderated by This Old House host, Kevin O’Connor. The panelists – Stephanie O’Brien, CUMAR Marble and Granite; D. Michael Collins, D. Michael Collins, Architects; Stephanie Horowitz, Zero Energy Design; Kenneth Vona, Kenneth Vona Construction and Greg Lombardi, Gregory Lombardi Design, will share what new products, technology, innovative ideas and design trends will sustain your home for years to come after a build or renovation. And, once your dream home is finished, what can you do to protect your investment from the ever-changing, harsh New England weather? From choosing the right materials for inside and outside your home, to planning landscaping that can combat the elements, to learning tips and tricks for proper care and maintenance of everything from the roof to the basement and everything in-between – learn from the experts on how to be build and maintain your investment for the long run. This is a not-to-be-missed presentation for homeowners thinking of renovating or ones ready to build new. This event is free and open to the public – advance registration is requested.  To RSVP please CLICK HERE.

CUMAR is a proud sponsor for the second year of the Boston Society of Architects (BSA)  Annual KidsBuild!, taking place on Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th, in the lobby at 290 Congress Street, Boston. Kids Build! is the largest BSA sponsored event in the Family Design Days series. Guided by professional architects, over 800 children and their families will build a miniature city in the lobby space.  Families will choose a construction site from a fictional city grid, design and build a building out of recycled materials, and be awarded a certificate of occupancy from the city building inspectors.

CUMAR has always been huge supporters of mentoring future generation of designers. As the primary supporter of the Over My Shoulder Foundation – a unique media-based project whose goal is to raise awareness of the impact of mentoring both cross-culturally and cross generationally – it is our company culture to continue supporting initiatives like KidsBuild! That encourage creativity at a young age. For more information on Kids Build! or to register for the event, please visit www.kidsbuild.org.

CUMAR Mable and Granite has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Boston Design Week, having sponsored this innovative series since its inception. From the wildly successful 2015 event, “Designing the Next Generation: The Give and Take of Mentoring in Luxury Homes” to the “Charmed by Charity: Mentoring in the Music, Design and Fashion Industries” event in 2013, CUMAR is honored to once again be involved in such an inspiring collaboration of businesses that helps promote public awareness and appreciation for all aspects of design. Design Week takes place from April 4th-15th, for more information please visit http://www.bostondesignweek.com.
